CraniumEXPLORERS
Critical learning & play
for young minds – Ages 3 – 6
A
Fun-filled learning and play program that builds
a child’s creativity, focus, communication, confidence,
artistic skills, critical thinking and cognitive skills while
exploring fun topics such as Astronomy, Natural Science, Earth
Science, Art, Biology, Travel, Writing, Nature, Flight, Economics,
Weather and Dinosaurs. At our main locations, kids also take
advantage of the CraniumGYM which incorporates an indoor and
outdoor state-of-the-art gym divided into “Fun-Zones”
(over 10,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor structured
space). CraniumEXPLORERS is often combined with other programs.
Rooted
in the science
of brain development, and inspired by the natural inquisitiveness
of children, Cranium EXPLORERS understands that learning is
a lifelong pursuit that begins years before traditional education
unfolds. CraniumEXPLORERS integrates animated, interactive,
fun curriculum into groundbreaking multi-sensory technology.
Classes encourage creativity and brain development, help stimulate
speaking and communication skills, and spark leadership and
personality development. Interactive teaching methods engage
children’s senses and foster a true love of learning
that will serve them for life. CraniumEXPLORERS liberates
learning, taking it beyond the context of memorizing facts
and figures and elevating it to a higher goal of active critical
thinking and creative problem solving. It is not about how
much your children learn; it’s about how children learn.
At our main locations CraniumEXPLORERS also liberates play,
taking it beyond a playground, by incorporating the use of
our CraniaumGYM. If taken within our Cranium Academy program
(preschool), CraniumGYM develops a child’s gross motor
skill proficiencies while building their strength, balance,
coordination, agility, flexibility and athletic movements,
motions and mechanics.
Enrichment
is tied to the brain. Nature offers a very narrow window of
opportunity in the development of a child’s brain, and
the window is only open for a short time. Research has shown
that 50% of the brain’s neural network is set by the
age of 5 and 80% by the age of 8. This means that a child’s
capacity for developmental mind and body learning is expanding
at an amazing rate and at a very early age. During Cranium
EXPLORERS, children are building a solid, creative foundation
for advanced thinking and advanced kinesthetic's during this
formative time that will support them as they confront new
concepts, ideas and athletic endeavors later in life. With
skillful program design, interactive technology and a keen
understanding of the science of learning and play, the CraniumEXPLORERS’
programs reach children during the exciting period when brain
neurons are firing, when important connections are being made,
and when children have the greatest potential for critical
learning and athletic development.
While
here, children are being challenged to explore and discover,
to think in new ways, and then to build on this thinking by
applying what they learn to the world around them. By deepening
thoughtfulness through experiential learning and play, a child
moves from knowledge acquisition to analysis and application.
Because it reaches the child as an individual, enrichment
is maximizing each child’s innate gifts and talents.
Application of knowledge allows a child to move well beyond
basic observation and recall of facts to comprehension.
Engaging children in this active process of comprehending
what they learn helps them to transfer the knowledge into
new contexts, and then to predict consequences or solve problems.
Our unique approach examines the “why” and not
just the “what” and “how”. These skills
are vital in life as well as in school.
| During
Cranium Explorers,
children are sharpening their communication skills as
they work in teams, defend their creative thoughts, describe
their work and conclusions, and solve problems as they
arise. Teachers often videotape the children as they give
presentations about their work. The children |
|
then have the opportunity to watch their own “performances”
on screen. This exercise not only builds vocabulary, it also
builds public speaking skills and supports confidence and self-esteem.
Children learn to think before they speak, craft their thoughts
and answers into complete sentences, and to make every word
count. Certain class options combine CraniumEXPLORERS
with other programs such as CraniumGYM
(listed above). In addition CraniumEXPLORERS might be combined
with CraniumHONORS(PreK-reading
and math skills), CraniumGLOBE (a language program that exposes
kids to languages such as Spanish and Chinese) and CraniumDISCOVERY
which allows kids to explore, create, experiment and problem
solve as they examine concepts in gravity, motion, measurement,
design, computation, buoyancy and magnetism.
